Well I went hunting Sunday morning and I was so ready to get me a deer. When the old man and I got there we had already saw several deer on the way to are deer stand. We were only up there for about a half hour and this big as buck comes around the wood and out of them right in front of us. I get ready to make the shot and when my old man said shut I did. I was so excited because I knew that I hit him I just was not for sure were. He took of slowly back towards the corn field and he just kept going till we lost sight of him. Then the old man got a shot at a due she was about 60 yards away from us but he hit her. We waited awhile before getting out of the stands and then went to find the arrows to see if we both hit them. We found mine first and it was covered in blood. Then we went to find his and it had just a little bit of blood on it. He wanted to wait awhile before we went to look for them so we went home for a bit. After six hours had past he said we could go back and track them down. We looked for my deer first we followed his blood trail it seemed like forever and then we found where he was laying and the old man said we must of jumped him. We tried to found more blood to follow but we could not find it and we lost his blood trail to. It just really sucked because he was a really big buck and I was already excided that I shot him it was just a big letdown. I guess it has to be, how do they say it' (better luck next time).
My first initial thought after reading this is maybe someone else decided to steal your deer? Seems kind of odd that the blood trail had just stopped and that the deer was gone, especially after you said there was a lot of blood. It is possible that someone could have possibly been having a bad hunting day and took their advantage of stealing yours. Just a little bit of advice, as soon as you are done hunting next time you may want to go out and look for your deer right away. This is not the first time that I have heard of a deer coming up missing after being shot. I am not much of a hunter myself as I do not have patience to go sit in a tree stand for hours on end looking for an animal to shoot. Right away I would get bored and end up aiming for other animals to shoot at. Not a lot of people these days choose to go bow hunting anymore. My mom just hit a deer a couple weeks ago with her Ridgeline and killed it, does that classify as hunting? haha. Our friends came to get the deer to use as meat because apparently my mom "doesn't like deer meat." Oh well, I guess hunting with a vehicle is the worst kind of hunting there is anyway. I hope you have better luck next time and maybe it wouldn't be as hard to find your kill shot if you stick a big bullet through its head!
